Fitness – Group Fitness Instruction

The Certificate in Group Fitness Instruction prepares students to lead and choreograph group exercise classes in aerobics, step aerobics, body conditioning and circuit training (including HIIT).
The course will take place in Waterford Institute of Technology, utilising the excellent facilities and renowned expertise that the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Science has developed. This award will emphasise theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to design and deliver group fitness classes for the general population in a safe and effective manner.

| Entry Requirements | Applicants must have successfully passed the Certificate in Fitness Instruction or equivalent for entry to the course. It is suitable for students who have successfully completed the Certificate in Fitness Instruction OR who hold another recognised qualification in Fitness Instruction and wish to qualify as a Group Fitness Instructor. |
| Career Path | The health and fitness industry will be the principal source of employment for graduates. Graduates may also apply for entry to relevant full-time programmes in WIT including the BA(Hons) in Exercise and Health Studies and the BBS(Ord) in Recreation and Sport Management. Exemptions may be granted on these full-time programmes for related fitness instructor modules. |
