Course Title:  Special Needs Assisting (6N1957) – QQI Level 6 Component Award

Course Duration: January, 2020 – April, 2020
Monday evenings 6.00pm – 8.00pm – 11 evenings in total.

Course Fee: €225 (This includes QQI assessment registration)

Proposed Start Date:  Monday, 20th January,  2020

Aims & Objectives of the Programme Module
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and
competence in the theory and practice underpinning the education and care of those who
present with special educational needs to enable the learner to assist in the provision of
this education and care.

Certification: QQI Level 6 Modular (Component) Certification.

Participant Criteria:
 Students must have a recognised qualification at FETAC/QQI Level 5 or
equivalent.
 Have already acquired relevant work experience in the childcare or special needs
setting.
 Undertake supervisory work experience during the course (minimum 50 hours)
throughout the course and complete the required assignments and project work.
 Students must undergo Garda Vetting, which is mandatory for work in a Care setting,  either through the College or directly through
their work experience placement. Alternatively already have acquired Garda Vetting
through their current place of related employment.

Selection Procedure:
Applicants will be invited to attend an Induction meeting with the course Tutor on Tuesday, 14th January,2020 at a time arranged between 6.00 p.m. and 8.30p.m.
