Painting the Portrait
Art Courses – Newmarket Art Studios
This seven week course is focused on learning how to painting in oils the human portrait.
Over the seven weeks students will develop the practical skill to master good portrait painting.
We will use a step by step approach to painting the portrait starting with a limited palette and over the weeks strengthening the student skills to work in a full palette.
Later in the workshop, students will work from a live model but first use photo reproductions to gain the knowledge of compositional devices used in classical portrait painting techniques.
Students must provide their own materials such as oil paint, brushes, palette, canvas etc.

Suitable for beginners and improvers places limited to eight students.
