Spanish is the worlds second language and is spoken by approximately 420 million people. It is the first language of Spain as well as Mexico, Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela and Chile among many other countries of Central and South America and knowledge of Spanish opens a pathway to understanding the rich cultures of the Hispanic World. This certificate will provide students with intensive training in the language from absolute beginners level. On completion, students will be able to acquire further study of Spanish through participation in the departments extensive range of evening courses, sitting the Instituto Cervantes DELE exams (for which UCC is an examining centre) or through the BA degree programme. We provide intensive language training with cutting edge technologies including e-learning and other online initiatives, intensive laboratory training, small group tutoring with highly qualified staff and one-to-one supervision for project work.
