WHAT IS AN ART (FINE ART OR
DESIGN 2D) COURSE?

This is a portfolio preparation and general
art course for students who wish to gain
entry to a third level art college in Ireland or
abroad. The emphasis will be placed on the
preparation of a balanced portfolio as well as
developing skills in the art, craft and design
areas. The portfolio, showing the students
individual sense of design and pattern, can
use a wide variety of the modules covered
on the course as well as the students
own interpretation of colour and design.
Depending on the combination of modules
a student can achieve a qualification in Fine
Art or Design/2D.

They can also access Level 7 courses in other areas in many of the IT colleges around the country. Alternatively, a graduate may seek immediate employment in a range of art, design, animation, craft or community arts type projects. Many students progress to QQI Level 6, or Higher National Diploma and Degree programmes in Graphic Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design and so on.
