What Will I Learn?
You will learn about the earth’s natural resources, the relationship between population and the environment and sustainable development and the various agendas. The course will educate students on the greenhouse effect and provide them with an understanding of the difference between conservation and preservation. The environment in relation to EU law and regulation, ethics and how to devise an environmental impact assessment will also be explored. Students will learn how to address the causes of environmental pollution and put forward solutions to contemporary environmental problems and analyse current regulation and legislation to address environmental issues. You will learn how to independently respond to issues arising from the environment and gain an understanding of key practices of environmental management and the processes involved in their implementation.
Career Opportunities
After completing your course in environmental studies, there are many areas you can delve into. You can work as a commercial horticulturist, environmental consultant, environmental education officer, environment engineer and environmental manager or planner. Hydrologist, environmental ecologist, ecological modeler, environmental chemist and conservation volunteer or scientist are also some roles you can work in. You can also work as a forester or wildlife ranger. Most of these jobs are with government agencies, while others are with non-profit organisations and private firms.
