Dublin 24 includes Firhouse, Jobstown, and the village of Tallaght. Tallaght is located south of Dublin city centre and north of, and near to, the River Dodder.The village area dates from at least the 1st century. It was one of the earliest settlements known in the southern part of Ireland, and one of the more important monastic centres during the medieval era. Tallaght is the home of the Institute of Technology Tallaght. ITT is a third-level college which offers undergraduate degrees, Higher Certificates and post-graduate professional qualifications. The college was founded in 1992. Other education institutions in the area include Firhouse Community College.
