The workshop will help the therapist identify how to implement policies and procedures related to best practice working with young people in crisis.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This workshop is designed for professionals who provide support to children and adolescents in crisis. These professionals include Accredited Psychotherapists, Counselling Students, Psychologists, Social Care Workers, Residential Care Workers, Schools counsellors and aligned professionals.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
This workshop will explore why suicide becomes a means to ending emotional pain and why self-harm becomes the means to live with emotional distress. Participants will identify how best to risk assess young people and how to respond to the needs of the client containing the crisis while recognising our duty of care. An introduction to Child development and awareness of how to create a strong therapeutic relationship through various mediums will provide the foundation for connection and a trusting relationship. This will include learning skills to support parents.
