Course Description

A Picture Book Illustration & Writing Beginners to Intermediate Workshop (April 19th -23rd)

The Illustori Academy of Picture Book Making

Beginners to Intermediate Picture Book course in 2021!

Whether you are a complete beginner, have some experience in visual arts or children’s literature, or have a picture book idea or work in progress that you need help with, The Illustori Academy has an illustration course to suit your needs. If you prefer a one-to-one coaching approach, then you can book by the hour at a time to suit your schedule.
The Illustration courses have been designed and delivered by Adrienne Geoghegan and initially classroom-based, but now all online since the Covid-19 pandemic. They were designed for aspiring, emerging, or lapsed illustrators and picture bookmakers.
They are also suitable for those who work in the areas of graphic design, animation, or fine art who wish to expand their skill set. Illustrators looking to tailor their portfolio to target children’s book agents and publishers will also benefit.  Participants will have a greater understanding of the current marketplace for children’s picture books.  In addition, the ability to create layouts, character development, storyboards, and texts will enhance your current skillsets, as well as developing new portfolio pieces along with the first draft of a picture book. Taught by published artist, and writer Adrienne Geoghegan.

  1. Insightful, fun & practical

I’m so happy I was finally able to attend this course. It helped me immensely in creating a first draft of a picture-book story that had been drifting about my head for years! Adrienne has reams of knowledge and experience, which she shares in a straightforward and easily understood fashion. She offers very practical exercises and provides useful frameworks for creating publishable picture-books. Perhaps best of all, she encourages attendees to carry on supporting one another as they continue developing their books. I can’t recommend this enough to those trying to launch their picture-book concept.
