The foundation exam will cover the basic knowledge and skills needed to use MSP in programme management, while the practitioner exam will focus on the more practical aspects of it.

The main aim of this exams package is to showcase your knowledge and skills in using the MSP guidance to work effectively with programme management, change management and project delivery management of an environment that supports MSP. These exams will also test if you are eligible to act as an informed programme management team member, who is responsible with managing, leading, supporting and advising on activities within the MSP environment. By listing these two certificates in your resume, you will be able to successfully demonstrate your knowledge and skills on programme management and on MSP framework to potential employers.

Who is this Exam aimed at?

These exams are aimed at individuals aspiring to get into or already in the programme management industry

Method of Assessment

The format for the foundation exam is as follows:

• Multiple choice questions
• 75 questions per paper with one mark available per question
• Five trial questions will not be counted in the scores
• 35 marks required to pass (out of 70 marks available) – 50%
• 60 minutes’ duration
• Closed book.

The format for the practitioner exam is as follows:

• Objective testing
• Eight questions per paper, 80 marks available in total
• 40 marks required to pass – 50%
• Two-and-a-half hours’ duration
• Open book exam. Only the official printed hard copy of the Managing Successful Programmes Guide is allowed. A printed PDF of the official manual or a digital PDF of the official manual on a personal device, is not allowed in an exam environment.  The official manual may be annotated and tabulated but no sticky notes and loose leaf papers containing additional notes will be allowed.

Certification

Successful learners will be awarded the MSP® Foundation certificate and the MSP® Practitioner certificate
