Latin Pre-Leaving Certificate

Start your Latin studies so that in approx. 3 years (subject to sufficient progress) you will be ready to sit Leaving Certificate Latin.  This course starts at Beginners level or ab initio (to use the Latin term.) Why learn Latin? Are you interested in Classical culture and the Ancient World? Perhaps you are interested in  languages and understanding the roots of words.  Latin is the foundation of the Romance languages of Italian, Spanish, French and Portuguese.  Latin is also heavily present in the English language.  Latin is logical and rules-based and will appeal to anyone who likes solving puzzles and working things out.  As such, it is excellent mind-training for people of all ages. The text book for this class will be the Oxford Latin Course Book 1 which can be ordered from bookshops or online.
