This course is targeted towards individuals who have an interest in the role that nutrition plays in the successful attainment of sports and exercise goals. With the increase in levels of obesity in the developed world, and concurrently with marketing strategies actively encouraging us all to have the “body beautiful”, there exists a paradox between the illusion and reality.
You will be introduced to the area of food science and the theoretical frameworks behind same. The emerging of supplementation is examined as is the area of nutrition research. The concepts and effects of hydration, dehydration and associated thermal stress are examined in a practical manner. You are introduced to key concepts in performance and recovery enhancement.

Career Path | The course has been designed to be of interest to participants who are have an interest in, but no formal qualification or training in, the area of nutrition in sports and exercise management. It also offers the student the opportunity to attain his/her own personal development goals. It can also introduce students to the business area of Nutrition in sports segment as participants may, on completion, consider progressing to the BA (Hons) in Sports Management and Development.
