Diploma in Introduction to Computer Networks

The main goal of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of network technologies, concepts and terminology. This course is an introduction to the structure, components, functions and services of computer networks, including current protocols, technologies, and performance issues.
You will learn about the equipment and technologies used in LANs, network topologies used today, and network designing with these topologies. A variety of network equipment will be discussed (including hubs, routers, and switches), all major LAN protocols will be covered (including TCP/IP). You will learn about the OSI layered communications model, and will understand the daily tasks involved with managing and troubleshooting a network.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Define the purpose of network analysis
- Define various protocol settings
- Define the purpose of Wireshark
- Describe how wireshark processes packets
- Analyze routed and wireless networks
