Cognitive Behavioural Skills for Practice
Waterford Institute of Technology
The course is designed to allow health and social care professionals to develop the requisite knowledge, skills and understanding to safely and appropriately apply cognitive behavioural skills into their everyday practice. Classes will take place on one morning per fortnight for 12 weeks. The programme is primarily aimed at nurses and midwives but is also open to other professionals who provide psychosocial interventions to service users as part of their day to day work.
All students must be based in a work setting with access to clients with anxiety and depressive disorders. Course participation is agreed with the practice manager who confirms that the placement is appropriate to allow the student the opportunity to develop their skills, allowing for reflection on their experiences, a key element of the programme.
