Who is this programme for? 
This programme is for those in an existing role that requires more specialised Data Protection Skills qualifications or graduates looking to gain employment in a Data Protection role.

You can be  confident that your organisation’s or future employers policies and procedures are legally compliant with the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 by completing Ireland’s first QQI Certificate in Data Protection Skills designed specifically for data protection officers.  You will understand your obligations as per the Data Protection Commission and the assignment of your designated Data Protection Officer.

Assessment
To attain this qualification you are required to complete a project and assignment that assess your knowledge and ability to apply this knowledge in an organisational context.

At the end of this programme you will have a better understanding of the following:

•  Data Protection principles under the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27th April 2016 and other current Data Protection legislation and differentiate between the obligations of a Data Controller and a Data Processor and the role of a supervisory authority.
•  Demonstrate practical skills in monitoring compliance appropriate to a range of Data Protection settings and managing the facilitation of requests from service users clients or customers wishing to exercise rights under GDPR.
• Evaluate the role of Data Protection within an organisation in supporting others and raising awareness in others in Data Protection policies and procedures relevant to the role of the individual.
• Utilise relevant Data Protection legislation to create policies and procedures for implementation in an organisational setting and understand the rights of the Data Subject and how to respond to requests.
• Examine the responsibility of a data controller in Risk Assessment & Data Processing
• Appraise the circumstances of personal Data breaches and the correct notification procedures
• Describe in detail the process involved in the preparation for a data audit
