Special Needs Assistant.
This Special Needs Assistant course will equip the learner with the skills, knowledge and competence required to work with children in a classroom setting. Through work experience, the learner will gain hands on experience through which they will be able to apply theory to everyday tasks. The course is designed to enable learners to work effectively as Special Needs Assistants and gain an understanding of the skills required to ensure children are working to become an independent learner. They will learn to work under the direction of the teacher and work as part of the multidisciplinary team.
In addition, students will be required to take 120 hours of work placement in a relevant accredited child setting. The college will help participants in picking suitable placements.
