WHAT IS ANIMAL SCIENCE?

This course would suit applicants with a passion for working with animals, a willingness to work hard and an interest in biology. Students will receive a solid foundation in Biology and basic Animal Science principles and practices while studying modules within the animal care sectors such as Animal Anatomy and Physiology, Animal Behaviour, Animal Welfare and Biology. This course is an ideal base for students who intend to continue to study at higher education degrees in Veterinary Nursing, Bio-Veterinary and Animal Sciences.

Career Path CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Graduates from this course may access Vet Nursing degrees in major Institutes of Technology and UCD. TU Dublin also accept this course for entry to general Science and Bioscience degrees. This course links with General Science in UCD (eg Zoology) and Agricultural Science in UCD. Other graduates have gone onto further study in Wildlife Biology (IT Tralee), Marine Biology (GMIT), Bio-Veterinary at Athlone or Tralee. Some students will progress to employment in Animal Behaviour, Dog Grooming, Animal Welfare, Stables, Kennels etc. Some students use this award to apply to a wide range of courses in the U.K..
