The Level 5 Major Award in Special Needs for Childcare (5M2009) is a one-year full-time course leading to a nationally recognised qualification in the area of Special Needs.
The programme covers all areas of working with children in a variety of settings and components are assessed using a variety examinations, assignments, work experience and skills demonstrations. Modules to be completed include: Children with Additional Needs, Special Needs Assisting, Child Development, Early Care and Education Practice, Child Health and Well-being, Early Childhood Education and Play, Communications, Work Experience, Work Experience in a Childcare facility and First Aid Response.
Students who successfully complete this childcare specialism course will have excellent employment opportunities.
