Knitting for All – with Nadine
Marino College
Knitting For All
Knitting For All is a relaxed and fun class suitable for everybody whether you are an absolute beginner or a more experienced knitters wanting to better understand how to design and fit to flatter your own style and shape.
Lots of stitch patterns and projects will be provided to support your learning. Our first class project is a lace scarf. After that you will be encouraged to make your first jumper but it is not mandatory and I have lots of interesting smaller project ideas if you prefer.
You will learn:
About needle and yarn types, gauge and fit
The value of keeping a sketchbook
Following a pattern
How to Cast On and Bind Off
Knit and Purl
Textured stitch patterns
Basic lace stitch
Increasing and Decreasing
Picking up to knit
Seaming and Blocking
You will need:
A pair of straight needles and a ball of yarn for the first class. I would recommend you buy 5mm needles in plastic or wood and a ball of worsted weight wool in a light colour. I will also have a limited supply of materials you can buy in class or you can bring whatever you have at home as our first lessons can be done at any gauge. More yarn will be required as the term progresses
Returning students welcome!
