Healthcare Support QQI Level 5 (includes Care Skills & Care of the Older Person)

Course Duration: 2 years  -September 2020/ April 2021 Yr 1 and   September 2021/April 2022 Yr 2
Tuesday night 6.30 – 9.30 pm

Manual Handling Certificate included  – Wednesday 6.30 – 9.00. ( 2 evenings ) Dates to be arranged (Term 1 in Year 1 only).

Course Fee: €595 per year (This includes assessment registration with QQI)

Proposed Start Date: Tuesday 15th September, 2020.

Participant Criteria:

 Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent. However, applications will also be considered from
people without these qualifications.
 Students are required to complete Work Experience – 50 hours per term, which they must
arrange themselves. Ideally, Work Experience should be a minimum of one day per week for
the duration of the course (September / May).
 Students must undergo Garda Vetting which is mandatory to work in a Healthcare setting, either through the College or directly through their work experience placement. Alternatively, will already have acquired Garda Vetting through their current place of related employment.

Certification:
QQI Level 5 Modular Certification on successful completion of Year 1. Full QQI Level 5 Healthcare
Support Major Award on successful completion of Year 2.

Students who successfully complete Year 1  are automatically accepted onto year 2.
Applicants will be invited to attend an Induction Meeting with the course tutor prior to
enrolment. This meeting will take place on Monday 10th or Tuesday 11th September between 6.00p.m and 8.00pm.
